How much should I charge for Christmas light installation?
Work it out from your own costs: labor for install and take-down, lights for the season, travel and overhead, divided by (1 - your margin). The kit's example two-story house comes to $625.00, or $3.91 a foot. National guides list about $2 to $5 per linear foot (Angi, 2026). Every price in the kit is an example.
Is this for starting a new business or adding to an existing one?
Both. It is written for owner-operators, and the playbook shows how holiday lighting fits next to lawn care, pressure washing, window cleaning and handyman work during the slower months.
Do I need a license or insurance?
Rules vary by state and city. The kit lists what to research and the questions to ask an insurance agent, with links to official sources. It is not legal, tax or insurance advice.
Are the contracts ready to use?
They are samples written in plain English, marked "Sample. Have it reviewed for your state." Contract rules vary by state, so have a local attorney review them before you use them.
Does the kit cover electrical work?
Only plug-in basics: outdoor-rated lights and cords, GFCI-protected outlets, connection limits and power-line distance. New outlets, circuits or hard-wired lighting are for a licensed electrician where required.
Do I need the OwnerKits app?
No. This kit works on its own with Word, Excel and PowerPoint (or Google Docs, Sheets and Slides).
Can I edit the door hangers and social posts?
Yes. Each comes with an editable PowerPoint file that opens in PowerPoint, Google Slides, Keynote or Canva. Change the business name, phone and website, then export or print.
