✦ About this product
Most home service owners know how busy they were last month, but not what each job made, how much to keep back for taxes, or what to hand their tax preparer in January. This pack gives you one workbook for the money side of the business, built for owner-operators in any home service trade.
You keep three simple logs (money in, money out and business miles) in about 15 minutes a week. The workbook does the rest: job profit and profit per hour, a monthly profit and loss, a tax set-aside for each IRS estimated tax period, running totals for each helper against the 2026 Form 1099-NEC threshold, and a one-page Year-End Summary with every expense category next to its likely Schedule C line. The 2026 IRS business mileage rates (72.5 cents to June 30, 76 cents from July 1) are applied by trip date.
The 31-page guide, Simple Books for Home Service Owners, walks through setup, the weekly routine, job profit, mileage, the monthly close, taxes, helpers and year-end, with worked examples from a filled-in example workbook (a fictional cleaning business). Eight printable logs cover the truck and the kitchen table: mileage, receipts, cash and checks, weekly and monthly checklists, a set-aside worksheet, a helper and W-9 log and a year-end checklist.
It works in Excel and Google Sheets with no macros. It organizes your records; it is not tax advice and doesn't prepare a tax return. Confirm categories, deductions and payments with a tax professional.

No. It keeps your records organized and totals them, but it is not tax advice and doesn't prepare a tax return. Confirm categories, deductions and payments with a tax professional.
The 2026 IRS mileage rates, the $2,000 Form 1099-NEC threshold and the estimated tax periods come from irs.gov (checked October 14, 2026). You can add next year's mileage rate in Settings.
The tracker uses a share you choose (the example uses 25%). That is a savings habit, not a calculation: ask a tax professional what fits you.
The kits cover pricing, operations and marketing for one trade. This pack adds the bookkeeping workbook, job profit, tax set-aside, helper tracking and year-end summary.
