✦ About this product
Many small cleaning, lawn care, pressure washing and handyman businesses hand overflow jobs to another operator or pay a helper "on 1099", often with no written agreement, no W-9 and no insurance certificate on file. Then January comes, the 1099 rules have changed, and the paperwork is a scramble. This kit gives you the documents and the process for working with subcontractors, from the first conversation to the year-end 1099.
It starts with the question that matters most: is this person really a subcontractor? The 33-page guide explains, in plain words, the three groups of evidence the IRS looks at, where the federal Department of Labor test stands in 2026, and the stricter ABC test some states use, with home service examples and a red-flag check. It's honest about the limits: a signed agreement doesn't make someone a contractor, and the guide tells you when to talk to an employment attorney or CPA.
Then the paperwork. You get a Master Subcontractor Agreement, a Job Work Order for each job, scope addenda for cleaning, lawn and snow, exterior washing and handyman work (written as results, not methods), a non-solicitation and confidentiality agreement and an end notice. Eight forms cover the information sheet, a W-9 request letter, an insurance certificate request and checklist, onboarding, job sign-off, incidents, payment statements and a year-end 1099 checklist with a totals letter. 16 ready-to-send messages handle invitations, reminders, job offers, concerns, payments and year-end.
The Subcontractor & 1099 Tracker (Excel and Google Sheets, no macros) logs your subs, their W-9 and agreement status and insurance expiry dates, and every payment with its method. Its 1099 Summary totals each sub for the tax year, leaves out card and payment app payments, flags corporations as generally exempt, applies the $2,000 threshold for 2026 payments and tells you the next step. Everything is a sample to adapt, not legal, tax or employment advice; rules differ by state, and the guide links the official IRS, DOL and state sources (checked November 4, 2026).

Small US home service businesses that use subcontractors: house and office cleaning, lawn care, landscaping and snow removal, pressure and soft washing, window and gutter cleaning, and handyman work. The master agreement and forms work for similar trades too.
No document can do that. Status depends on how the work really happens and on federal and state tests. Chapter 1 explains the tests and the warning signs, and if someone works like an employee, the honest fix is to hire them as one.
No. They are plain-language samples marked "Sample. Have it reviewed for your state." Have them reviewed by a local attorney before you rely on them, especially the non-solicitation agreement, which some states limit.
No. The tracker shows who likely needs a Form 1099-NEC and the totals, and the guide explains the 2026 rules and dates. You file through the IRS IRIS portal, your accounting software or your CPA. It is not tax advice.
Yes. Every document has a Word version (opens in Word, Google Docs or Pages) with [PLACEHOLDERS] for your details, and the tracker opens in Excel or Google Sheets.
